Text messages that are simultaneously being sent between multiple people are called group messages. But the large number of conversation participants can result in a high volume of messages, so you may eventually decide that you would like to get out of the group text.
Our guide below will show you how to leave a group message conversation on your iPhone.
How to Get Out of a Group Messsage in iOS 9
Device used: iPhone 6
Software version: iOS 9.3
Step 1: Open the Messages app.
Step 2: Select the group message conversation that you wish to leave.
Step 3: Tap the Details button at the top-right corner of the screen.
Step 4: Scroll down and tap the red Leave this Conversation button.
Please note that there are a lot of caveats to how this works. You will not be able to leave a group message unless everyone in the message is using iMessage. If one of the people in the group is using an Android device, for example, then you will not be able to leave. In those cases, it’s probably better to tap the Do Not Disturb button to mute the conversation.
Additionally, once you leave a group message, you will not be able to return to it unless someone in the group adds you back in.
